Hollywood standard: smooth transitions, viewer does not notice cuts. Rules: 1) 180° rule (action axis, camera does not cross), 2) Match on action (cut on movement), 3) Eyeline match (direction of gaze → what character sees). Founder: D.W. Griffith ('Birth of a Nation', 1915).
