August 1612 — the militia approached Moscow. Hetman Khodkievich brought reinforcements to the Poles. Battles occurred from August 22-24, with Khodkievich repelled. On October 22 (November 4 in the new style), the Kremlin was stormed. The Poles surrendered after starving.
