⚔️Fall of the Latin Empire (1261)
The Latin Empire weakened: attacks from Bulgarians, Greeks of Nicaea, and Epirus. Its territory shrank to Constantinople and its surroundings. On July 25, 1261: the Nicaean army captured Constantinople (the Latins were asleep). Michael VIII Palaiologos became emperor. Byzantium was restored (but weakened).
