Count Thibaut III of Champagne (22 years old) organized the tournament. Fulco de Neuilly preached the crusade, delivering a dramatic speech about the sins of knights and holy war. Thibaut, Louis of Blois, and Simon de Montfort took the cross, deciding to gather an army for Egypt, not Jerusalem
