Venice acquired: Crete, Euboea, the Ionian Islands, ports in Greece and Asia Minor, and control of the Dardanelles. A trade monopoly was established. A quarter in Constantinople. 'A quarter and a half of the Roman Empire' (official title of the Doge). Venice became the greatest power in the Mediterranean.
