🌫️Forgetting and interference

Ebbinghaus (1885): forgetting curve (80% in 24 hours, 90% in a month without repetition). Interference: retroactive (new information interferes with old), proactive (old information interferes with new). The effect of primacy (primacy, the beginning of the list is remembered better → long-term memory) and freshness (recency, the end of the list → working memory). Consolidation: Sleep strengthens memory (REM for procedural, SWS for declarative). False memories: Loftus (1974) car accident experiment (“hit” vs. “collided” → different estimates of speed).
