Attack on the sea walls (Golden Horn). Ladders from ships. Byzantines repelled the assault with stones, boiling water, and arrows. The Crusaders retreated with losses. Murtzuphl personally commanded the defense. Byzantines were inspired: 'The Latins will not take us!'. Crusaders prepared for a second assault.
