Conrad III's German army fell into an ambush by the Seljuk Turks of Sultan Masud I. The battle lasted several hours. The Germans were utterly defeated, with 3/4 of the army (~15,000 out of 20,000) killed. Conrad fled to Nicaea with the remnants. The worst defeat for the crusaders in Asia Minor
