⚔️Walls of Constantinople
The Theodosian walls (built in the 5th century) featured double walls: outer (12 m high) and inner (20 m). There were 96 towers and a moat in front of the walls. The maritime walls along the Golden Horn and the Sea of Marmara were impregnable for 800 years (no one breached them since 447). The crusaders hesitated.
