The attack began on the morning of April 12. Venetians tied ships together (stable platforms). Ladders reached above the towers. French knight Pierre d'Amien and a Venetian were the first to climb the wall. They captured the towers. Simultaneously, a breakthrough occurred at the Petrion gates. Crusaders entered the city.
